The fur is time consuming as it is a speckled color throughout. The areas of solid color is a very rich chocolate brown. The eyes are dark brown as is breed standard. I have a collection of hunting dogs and this one is my favorite.

A Dalmatian is an intelligent, independent thinker who wants to be the class clown. I make the eyes wool so I can show the soul of the dog. I just can't do that with glass or plastic eyes. You can see the mischievous sparkle in the eyes. This boy is all wool on a wire armature for stability. There is no rule as to the number of black spots they have. Some are very heavily spotted and some very lightly. I went for the middle ground. I can add more if this is a purchase to match your family pet. (no charge) I spend a lot of time doing a surface finish to the coat on the short haired breeds. My male dogs are anatomically correct males. The male of a species is usually a bit more heavily muscled and on the larger side. So it seemed fair they have all their parts.

When I chose a dog to soft sculpt I pick one near and dear to my heart. Labs work with the handicapped to assist them in their lives so for me, that makes them very special. There is isn't much this breed can't do and do with an intense loyalty to their owner.

This handmade dog is sculpted with a beautiful, soft tan color, all wool fiber. A very lively color. This color is allowed in the yellow lab classification. I hand mix and color my dogs. A time consuming procedure but it gives the dog an amazing coat. I then finish the coat, one tiny section at a time to ensure he will remain as beautiful as he is today. This sculpture is created over a wire armature, as are all my sculptures, for stability.  It takes me a week to complete one dog. I never use artificial parts on my animals. Even the eyes and nose are wool. I can get many expressions on their faces by using wool. He is an anatomically correct male.They are truly a labor of love.

The Yorkshire Terrier is feisty, alert, inquisitive, energetic, determined, brave, bossy, scrappy and boisterous. But he can also be very sweet. He can be described as a little dog with a big personality! There is so much fitted into such a small package.

As you can tell, terriers are my favorite breed and I do have two real ones. Although not a Yorkie. This little original creation is a beautiful color of very soft wool. I mixed the color and used a few types of wool to create the beautiful coat they are known for. There are many different hair cuts you will see on the Yorkie. Most pet dogs don't have the show coat seen in pictures, but the easier to care for cuts that are just as cute. I went for the middle of the road and this cut is between a show coat and the more common home cut.

From the tip of her nose to the end of the hindquarters, this little Yorkie measures 4 1/2 inches. She is 2 1/2 inches tall at the withers and 2 inches wide across the chest.

This type of dogs takes much longer to create because of the showy coat. To get a lively color for the fur I hand mixed several colors. A solid color would give a flat appearance. I also used a mixture of three types of wool to create the look, which included silk and Alpaca. She was worth the extra effort.

Beagles have been around in some form for about one thousand years. Their appearance may have changed a bit over time, but their excellent good nature remains the same, making them a very popular breed of dog. I always smile when I see this dog. Reminds of the song "Hang On Snoopy, Snoopy hang on".

This Beagle measures 3 1/2 inches at the withers. Nose to hindquarters is 6 1/2 inches. She is 2 inches wide at the hind quarters. Every inche is packed with cute.

A soft sculpture this precise takes many hours to create. She is on a wire armature for posing and stability. Other then the armature, this piece is all wool. It takes 9 parts to make one eye, 16 pieces for the face and about 3 hours to color the entire sculpture. Then I finish the surface 1/4 inch at a time in three directions. This insures the sculpture will not lose it's surface finish over time and will retain it's beauty. Soft sculptures are truly a labor of love. The eyes and face on this soft sculpture are very expressive.
